The Venice Biennale is the world’s oldest and largest art event. Dr Nick Gordon will explore how the Biennale has changed substantially since 1895 and how in turn it has transformed Venice from a provincial town on the edge of modern Italy into a preeminent playground for modern and contemporary art.
Dr Nick Gordon is a cultural historian and artist with a PhD in history from University of Sydney. He has lectured extensively at university and arts organizations. He has led over 40 cultural tours, including several to the Venice Biennale and Art Basel. He has run over 50 art and history short courses and is the founder of www.theshortcourse.org
